Make-Up Artist Darbey Bacchus Budd

Everyday a woman asks me if I want to live with her. No kidding...
Unfortunatly, I know I dont possess any special powers, I just know where to place the color.
As clients leave my chair I know I have given them a pearl of wisdom to consider. A thought or suggestion to improve, update and simplify their make-up.
My book will be full of helpful tips and tricks but also include the tools and product to achieve their perfect look.

1) The book will contain a pallet of shadows/blush/lips and a set of mini brushes that will enable them to put the suggestions into practice right away. This is very unique!
2) The book will have pages that are transparent except for the details that are being demonstrated. The client will turn these pages to see the application develop in steps for easy understanding.
3) The book will have a great deal of personality. Cool, sexy, fun images of me interacting with clients to make the reader feel as if she is in a personal session with me.
4) The book will be copy light and use drawings/images to communicate instructions light heartily.
5) The book will have before and after images of my clients and a brief explanation of their concerns and how they are addressed.

Open Your Make-up Kit and let me introduce you to your color and tools.

Your Brushes Take this opportunity to throw away any crusty old sponge tip applicators. You have your very own make-up brushes now!

Powder Brush. You will swirl on your blush or bronzer with this brush. Go lightly into your product. You will not have to dig! Using brush apply to he desired area by patting on your color spot, and blending around the edges. See photo*** for brush position #1
Shader Brush. Holding your brush in position #1

1) Lets look in the Mirror
Before we throw out all those free gift colors and clear that shoe box full of 10 year old make-up lets look in the mirror. Who do you see? Time flies and before long your make-up hasn't changed in years. My recommendations have to be real and really achievable.
Your skin- Time has left you some reminders of all those sunny days laying out in oil iodine. A few more wrinkles and a lot less bounce back. Your foundation might be the first to go. Is the color match right on? Checking the jaw line in the best possible daylight is the best determining factor. See photo***The formulation should allow your natural skin to show through while eliminating the undesirable undertones like red or brown.

2)See Photo***The Flawless Skin Corrector is the perfect foundation alternative for most clients. Apply the Flawless Skin Corrector to the face by swirling through the compact with your powder brush and apply to the skin. Apply first to the cheeks and nose and then blend out to the jawline and hairline. Formulas have improved over the years to offer coverage with out cakey face heavy liquids. The bronzer that is swirled into the Flawless Face Corrector adds just the right amount of color for a healthy beautiful glow.

3) See Photo***Eye / Lip Base. Never leave your shadows alone on an unprimed lid. Color will crease on a hot day or fake of when your dry. Is your lipstick feathering or fading? Just a dab will do ya. A dab on the ring finger applied to the eyelids and lower lash line and across the entire lip. Set the lip primer with Flawless Face Corrector by dusting with powder brush. Your eyes are ready for shadow!

4) First lets get familiar with your brushes. See photo***

Take your Shader Brush. Hold it like a pencil not like a drumstick! See photo***Lets practice patting on your lid without any color on it at first. Pat up and down literally driving the color into the Eye Base. The patting movement is going to set the color so that it will last all day. NO SWEEPING! See Photo****
Next lets grab the Squirrel Crease Brush. This brush will allow you to blend color in the crease of your eye with precision and control. Draw your color by twisting the tip of the brush through the product and tapping the excess off. With the tip of the brush begin by marking the eyelid while looking straight on into the mirror. Mark with a little color the area of skin that is just beginning to fall across the lid. See photo*** Now chin up eyes looking low into the mirror. That mark that you made is your guide where you will get the most benefit
from your contour. Place the brush on that mark and with a windshield wiper movement go back and forth along the under side of your eye bone. Spend at least 10 seconds blending. Add more color to your brush for increased intensity and contrast. Now the most important brush of all. The Angle Brush. This brush will add definition to your brow and define your lash line. You operate this brush by pressing the edge of the angle into the color and tapping excess off. Deliver color to the brow with soft dashing strokes. Move ion the direction of hair growth. Once you reach your peak, use soft downward strokes to achieve the perfectly defined eyebrow. Use this brush to apply your eyeliner by lightly dashing along your lash line. Starting on the outside corner, dash towards the inner corner. You want a slightly heavier application on the outside to accentuate lift and shape. See photo***
Now your Powder Brush. Applying your face powder is a snap by simply swirling the brush through the product. Introduce the product to the areas that need the product first. Cheek, nose and forehead. These areas generally gets red and shiny the fastest. Next blend out lightly across the entire face. See photo*** Next, apply the cheek color by lightly petting the brush on one side through your blush/bronzer. You do this for control of color. You determine the placement by drawing an imaginary line from the outside corner of the eye-down and from the edge of your nostril across. See photo*** Where these two line would meet will be your color spot. Apply your cheek color deliberately on that spot and blend back and up from there. Keep blending until the fade out of that cheek color is soft. For a more contoured look ( accentuating your cheek bones for black and white photos and dimly lit situations is a terrific trick for more shape) apply a deeper shade of blush to the underside of this area. Making sure to blend well. Use less color to gradually build up this application. Your color should end before it reaches your hair line!

4)See photo*** Lets take a look at 5 eyeshadow looks that are bullet proof. These looks are easy to try and effective at bringing out the very best in your features. Identify the concern that best suits you. And lets get going. Turn the clear pages to build the eyeshadow application step by step. Go on to the next page when you have successfully nailed down each step. Be patient. Allot of what you are going to be experiencing will be solved through repetition. You are retraining yourself on brushes and application. You will get this. Don't give up!

The book will have a removable portfolio type section that contains a pallet of shadows, blushes, lip and brow colors. Also a complete set brushes that will be coded with color to direct the user to coded colors to use with that brush for specific applications.
